The skin is one of the defining features of a Spanish peanut. By wanting a Spanish peanut without the skin, Mr. Burns is basically just asking for a plain peanut – BUT he wants Smithers to go through the extra effort of removing the skin for him. That’s the joke. I feel like I should break this down further, but don’t really have the time.
Also, fun fact: virtually all peanut butter is made from Spanish peanuts since they apparently have the “nuttiest” flavor according to a website that I can’t remember so I’m not going to bother citing it as a reference.
I personally like the skin on Spanish peanuts, so I guess that’s one thing that Mr. Burns and I don’t agree on. But that’s ok, because there are also plenty of things we do agree on. For example, I’m a big fan of his pro-duck hiring practices. Get back to work Stewart!
