Exciting Celery Soup

Marge sure does like her celery. Between this soup and the boiled variety, it seems like she is a fan of this incredibly bland…I mean EXCITING vegetable. And even though I don’t personally find celery soup that exciting, I did find this recipe tasty!

Based on the episode, it looks like Marge uses celery, carrots, garlic and radish in her soup. The first three make sense, but radish less so. I decided to use it as a garnish only because I couldn’t find a single celery soup recipe that includes it. If you can find that recipe, please provide it and I will make it.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 bunch celery
  • 1 potatoes
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Roughly chop potatoes and bring to a boil until cooked. In a large pot heat oil and add chopped celery and onion, cook until translucent. Add chicken stock to vegetables and bring to a boil, then cover and simmer. Simmer for 20-3 minutes, then add cooked potatoes. Blend mixture until smooth. While broth is still warm but not boiling add cream. Serve hot and garnish with radish.

The soup turned out fantastic, but was it exciting? No, not really. I think the only option is for me to eat celery soup while I recover from my new found interest in death sports through the following magazines:

  • Bear Baiter
  • Rock Jumper
  • Mosh Pitter
  • Danger Liker
  • Cliff Biker
  • Glass Eater

Made this today – while perhaps not exciting, it charmed me enough to keep me interested. Even though soup isn’t really bitten into, I like my soups to bite back, so I added a shredded clove of garlic and some coarse black pepper. Pho! Yummy <3

Regular ham doesn’t thrill me anymore. Do you have any suggestions?

I recommend deviled ham to suit all your thrill seeking needs: http://eatslikeaduck.com/no-fuss-no-muss-regular-ham-vs-deviled-ham/
